Forest Bathing (Japanese: Shinrin-yoku) is the practice of immersing yourself in a forest or natural environment to relax, reduce stress, and connect with nature. It doesn’t mean swimming or bathing in water — instead, it’s about “bathing” in the atmosphere of the forest with all your senses.
Origins in Japan : The term Shinrin-yoku (森林浴), meaning “forest bathing” or “taking in the forest atmosphere” It was introduced as a form of preventive healthcare, encouraging people to immerse themselves in nature to counter rising stress, urbanization, and lifestyle-related diseases.
Forest bathing is now practiced worldwide, led by wellness practitioners, nature guides, and health professionals who integrate it into holistic healing programs.
